Ears

The other day we were looking for a parking spot in the college parking lot, which is a nearly impossible and very time consuming and gas wasting feat during most hours of the day.

"I can't find a place to park. There are so many, many cars everywhere", I said to Reya, after she asked if we were there yet. Her response was completely of the mentality of being two. "Yes, and they all have ears", she said.

I can see where she got that idea. We have had this funny eared car gracing our driveway for a few months, waiting for her Dad to take a road trip to us and retrieve it. What an odd sight it must be, for a child.

There is some kiss we want with
our whole lives, the touch of

spirit on the body. Seawater
begs the pearl to break its shell.

And the lily, how passionately
it needs some wild darling! At

night, I open the window and ask
the moon to come and press its face against mine. Breathe into...
me.

Close the language-door and
open the love window. The moon
won't use the door, only the window.
